It’s also analogous to saying that to mention gay couples is a slight to straight couples or to mention Muslims is a slight to Jews. Neither statement has any footing in actuality. As a person, I perceive Obama as someone who tends to want to include everyone in the discussion, i.e., not pretend that a person or group does not exist.
